Moving Maryland Forward Through Sports
Launched in 2019, the Sport & Entertainment Corporation of Maryland (Sport Corp)— an initiative of the Maryland Sports Commission—has played a pivotal role in driving economic growth through sports tourism. As a nonprofit organization, Sport Corp fosters public-private partnerships that bring major sporting events to Maryland, generating millions in revenue and strengthening the state's reputation as a national leader in sports tourism.
Sports Tourism delivers economic impact to the state in the form of tax revenue from hotel stays, restaurant dining, vehicle rental and fuel, ticket sales and other purchases. Maryland is widely recognized as a key national player in sports tourism and considered a model for effective state-level management in this field.
